The Cushmans have always been a soccer family. I have always loved seeing old pictures of their cute little boys, barely looking old enough to walk, kicking a soccer ball. Well, Friday night was the last soccer game after 25+years for them.
This year was supposed to be a great year for Connor. They were a good returning team and he was team captain. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the season, Connor tore his ACL during a scrimmage. We felt so bad for him, all of these years of hard work leading up to his senior year and now he wouldn't be able to play. But he was a great leader and still went to all the practices and games. Last Tuesday we went to his playoff game, they won...
Then Friday was the championship game, they won 5-0, ending their season with a perfect 23-0 record. The coolest part of the game was the final 3 minutes when the announcer shouted "A warm welcome back to Connor Cushman!" He ran on the field and actually had a shot on goal but unfortunately it didn't go in...but still pretty sweet! What an exciting ending! We are so proud of you Connor!
So, now the question is, is it the end of an era...or just the beginning?
Looks like Pop and daddy have already started the training...
